Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows 10 in 2025, meaning it will no longer receive updates and security patches past that date. This schedule is based on Microsoft’s Lifecycle Policy and is published on their Lifecycle page. Customers are encouraged to migrate to Windows 11, but if hardware does not meet the requirements for Windows 11, these options are not supported. Other options include purchasing a new PC, ditching Windows for Linux, paying Microsoft for extended security updates, or upgrading hardware to Windows 11, which can be done using technical methods despite hardware compatibility issues.
