The Alexa app from Amazon has received a significant update. The revamped app now offers more convenient access to your Echo devices and other smart home gadgets, including plugs, lights, cameras, thermostats, and more. According to Amazon, the increase in smart home devices influenced the decision to center the app around smart home management. The Home screen now features a Shortcuts bar with icons for your smart home devices, allowing you to view their status and control them with a single tap. Additionally, a section for Favorites allows you to access your most frequently used smart devices and customize the section as needed. The app also includes an Activity section for time-sensitive information and a chat feature with Alexa. A Map View feature, currently available in preview mode to certain US users, allows you to view, manage, and control all your Alexa-enabled smart home devices in one place.
