Threads users can now delete their profiles and still retain their Instagram accounts. Instagram head Adam Mosseri revealed the new option as based on feedback from Threads users. Launched by Meta in July, Threads has been intertwined with Instagram from the beginning. An issue arose when users realized they couldn’t remove their Threads profile without removing their Instagram account. Shortly after the launch, Mosseri addressed this and stated that a solution was in the works. Now, the process for deleting an account is simple. Tap your profile icon in the Threads iOS or Android app, select the double-line icon, tap the option for Account, select Deactivate or Delete Profile, and tap Delete Profile. With Threads, Instagram, and Facebook all owned by Meta, the company has introduced features to integrate the platforms. Threads’ user growth has steadily risen and is now estimated at around 140 million. The company is working on adding new features based on user feedback.
