You need to give your system a name, username, and create a password. You can also encrypt your home directory, but it slows down the system. It’s faster to encrypt the entire drive after setting up Mint. Mint’s setup menu allows you to create a system snapshot with Timeshift and schedule regular backups. You can also check for additional drivers and install proprietary multimedia codecs. After that, update your system and all the programs installed from Mint’s Software Manager. To update manually, click on the shield icon in the menu bar and provide your password. You can also explore system settings and find new programs with the Software Manager. Installation usually takes about an hour, but if you’re a beginner, allow yourself an afternoon or morning. Enjoy!
