The latest beta of Apple’s 17.3 iOS was causing major issues, prompting Apple to pull it back after only a few hours. Users who installed the iOS 17.3 Beta 2 reported that their phones were stuck in a boot loop with a frozen spinning wheel, leading to continuous restarts without fully loading. The issue was partially tied to the Back Tap gesture, causing a crash in backboardd. Users affected by the issue have reported that restoring their iOS to a previous version, either 17.3 beta 1 or iOS 17.2.1, resolves the problem. Apple quickly made the beta unavailable for download and install and added a paragraph to the release notes, informing users how to recover their devices. The last beta of iOS 17, released in December, brought a major security feature and other small bug fixes, while the newest version was only expected to bring small fixes. It’s strongly recommended to not install beta versions of iOS on your primary phone due to the potential for bugs and flaws.
