Google has added a feature to its Google Workspace applications that enables users to record and share how their name is pronounced. This feature is designed to reduce instances of name mispronunciation and is available across products like Google Docs and Gmail. By recording their name pronunciation on their profile card, users can ensure that colleagues and others can play the recording to hear the correct pronunciation. Admins have the option to turn this feature off at the domain or group level, and it began rolling out on December 11th. The feature will be available to users with specific Google Workspace accounts, as well as Google for Nonprofits customers. Other workplace applications like Slack and LinkedIn already offer a name pronunciation feature, with Slack adding it in June 2022.
