Meta’s Threads social network now supports hashtags, allowing users to categorize their posts by topic and make it easier for others to find related posts. This highly requested feature is being rolled out globally by Instagram head Adam Mosseri. The implementation of hashtags is unique on Threads, as the # symbol won’t show up as part of the tag after it’s added. Instead, the tag appears in blue and can be easily identified. Users can only add one tag per post, eliminating the clutter of multiple hashtags. Hashtags also work on Threads’ mobile apps and website. The goal behind Threads’ hashtag design is to focus on communities and discourage engagement hacking. This update should streamline the use of hashtags and improve the user experience.
