Connected devices that make up the Internet of Things (IoT) are now integrated with 5G network technology. In the future, artificial intelligence (AI) applications will be running within these devices. This would allow an extended reality (XR) headset, for example, to provide a 3D view and intelligent guidance within a small device. Chipmakers are developing energy-efficient processors capable of running AI algorithms. Overall, the worldwide number of connected IoT devices will exceed 29 billion by 2027, with the majority being deployed in the consumer devices, manufacturing, and retail. The next stage of digital transformation in these industries will depend on the combination of 5G, IoT and AI technologies.
