Bard outsmarts ChatGPT in Google’s Gemini update

Google introduced its AI chatbot Google Bard in February, powered by two large language models. It has now received its most significant upgrade, Gemini, Google’s most advanced large language model to date. Gemini comes in three sizes: Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano, with each size suitable for different tasks. Google claims that Bard with Gemini Pro outperforms GPT-3.5 in six of eight benchmarks, making it the preferred free chatbot in blind evaluations. Users can test Bard with Gemini Pro for text-based prompts for free and in 170 countries and territories. Google plans on introducing Bard Advanced, powered by the most advanced version of Gemini — Gemini Ultra — early next year. Before Gemini, Bard was powered by the lightweight model version of Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) and then by PaLM 2.
